Conference Information

For the 3rd year, the PURA Syndrome Foundation will welcome families of individuals diagnosed with PURA syndrome, medical and research professionals and other interested attendees from around the world to gather together. Families and medical specialists will have the chance to meet each other, sharing information and ideas.

Taking place in Cambridge UK, at the Wellcome Genome Campus Conference Centre, the conference will offer current medical and research information, networking opportunities, and support to those interested in PURA syndrome. 

The PURA Syndrome Foundation 2018 conference will be held over a 3 day period:
Global Research Network Closed Meeting - Friday 22nd June

Medical and Family Sessions - Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th June.


Conference sessions are designed for adult attendees. There are many areas of space available for play if parents are bringing additional family members to assist with their own child's care.

Conference Attendance Costs

Children attend free.
If meals are required for children, please contact us below.

PURA Syndrome Family Member Attendance: £55 per adult

Includes: Admission to all presentation sessions
Saturday - morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, conference dinner
Sunday - morning tea, lunch   (breakfasts included in accomodation booking)


General Attendance (Saturday only medical presentations): £45 per person

Includes: Admission to all Saturday medical presentation sessions 9-4pm
Saturday - morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea


Accommodation for the event can be booked online, with payment made via credit card at the time of booking. We strongly encourage you to book your on­site accommodation as soon as possible. The number of rooms (particularly accessible larger rooms) is limited.

Attendees are fully responsible for booking their own accommodations and all costs of accommodations. Any cancellations and refunds can only be made by the conference venue in accordance with their policy.

Accommodation booking through the online registration website will cease on 31 March 2018 and after this date, you will need to phone the conference centre reception directly to book. The Foundation cannot be guaranteed accommodation after online registration ceases.

The PURA syndrome accommodation room rate is based on the number of adults within the room:

  • Single occupancy £92.82 (Including VAT) per room per night.

  • Twin occupancy £112.32 (Including VAT) per room per night.

  • Triple occupancy is £131.82 (Including VAT) per room per night.

Terms and Conditions

If for any reason this conference is cancelled or rescheduled, the PURA Syndrome Foundation is not responsible for costs incurred by attendees, such as airfares, transportation, event accommodation or other reservations, but registration fees will be refunded to the extent possible.

If an attendee cancels their attendance for any reason, registration fees are not refundable. Accommodation refunds will be given by the conference venue only if available in accordance with their booking policy.

The Wellcome Genome Campus is home to some of the world's foremost Institutes and organisations in genomics and computational biology, committed to delivering life-changing science with the reach, scale and imagination to solve some of humanity's greatest challenges. The Conference Centre is a beautiful complex within the Hinxton Hall Estate and its 100-acre parkland bordering the river Cam, just outside Cambridge UK. 


The Conference Centre is an impressive modern space. Underneath the new glass roof lies a large, naturally-lit open venue and event area – ideal for informal discussion, networking, poster sessions and evening drinks – and the Campus Cultural Zone. Off the main area are two medium-large meeting rooms (Rosalind Franklin and James Watson Pavilions) that can be set up in a variety of layouts.


The Conference Centre is part of Wellcome Genome Campus Connecting Science, providing meeting, networking and relaxation spaces conducive to learning and sharing.

The Venue is a secure facility and as such, all those attending must have their names registered and security tags allocated.
